100,000 € fine : a truck driver drove from Spain to Germany almost without resting
On the autobahn near Darmstadt, the police stopped a trucker who had set a dubious “record”. The 37-year-old driver traveled 1500 kilometers from Spain to Hesse almost without a break. For 19 hours of travel he rested only 78 minutes, although the rules of daily driving time should not exceed 10 hours.
But that's not all. A check of the tachograph showed that the man had been systematically violating the work and rest regime for months. In one of the weeks he worked 22.5 hours with the limit of 56 hours. The total number of violations was 130.
The result: a fine of more than 20,000 € for the driver and three times as much for his company. In addition, the police found technical faults in the truck.
This case is a gross disregard not only for the rules, but also for the safety of people on the roads.
