Support during truck inspections by police, customs or BAG in Germany
Communication with police and BAG:

The most important thing during a roadside inspection is to understand exactly what claims and requirements the police or BAG officers have. To resolve the issue with minimal losses, contact us. Many problems can be solved directly on site; if not, we will advise you on the best course of action to avoid additional costs and fines.

Police ban on further driving:

If there are technical faults, the police have the right to prohibit further driving, confiscate the license plates and documents. The truck is often sent for a technical inspection, and a list of defects is drawn up that must be rectified before the plates and documents are returned. In this situation, the only options are repair or removal of the faulty truck from the country.

Truck evacuation from Germany:

If the police have taken your truck to a German workshop and the repair costs are too high, you can have the truck transported to another workshop, but:

  • The police prohibit towing because it is only permitted for emergency recovery, not for transporting vehicles from place to place
  • When transporting trailers, the tent structure must be dismantled so as not to exceed the total height of 4 m
  • A low-loader trailer is required for transporting tractor units
  • A crane may be required during loading

Workshop selection
and repair supervision:

We will help you choose a workshop near the inspection site, negotiate the cost of labour and parts, and supervise the entire repair process until completion. Most German and Western European workshops are booked weeks in advance, and the hourly rate at brand workshops has long exceeded €100. If repair is necessary, it is crucial to know where and when to do it.

What happens if you abandon a truck in Germany:

If the truck is left on a private workshop car park, the owners will charge parking fees of €20–100 per day and, after one or two years, will sell the vehicle to cover the debt. The police will also not forget the fine and inspection costs and will take the case to court. The court will issue an arrest warrant on the carrier’s company assets until the fines are paid. Any vehicle belonging to the company can be seized. The warrant also applies personally to the company director.
